Wendy Smith

Wendy Christine Smith, 54, passed away on November 19th, 2024, at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Wendy, a child of God, was born on January 1st, 1970, to David L. and Joann J. (Nee Grohn) Mitchell.  Wendy shared her birthday with her great- great- Grandmother Bryzinski, Grandmother Helen Janisewski, and granddaughter Aria Martell.  

Wendy is survived by her parents Joann (Fred) Ellis, Marjorie “Gidget” (Wally) Brown, and David Mitchell; loving life companion Chris Thomas; siblings Billie Ellis, David (Erin) Mitchell, Jon (Amy) Mitchell, and Jessie Mitchell. She is also survived by her children Kyra Winn (Anthony Brocugulio), Grace Winn, Derek Mitchell, and Brett McElvaney; grandchildren  Aria Winn Martell, Selena LaTonya Winn, Katerina Doll, Aaliyah Brocugulio, and baby girl Aurora Brocuglio who is on the way;  nieces and nephews Aleah Ellis, Elias Mitchell, Isaiah (Oliva) Mitchell, Harrison (Savannah) Mitchell, Wyatt Mitchell; and  godparents Curt Hehl and Linda Buettner. Wendy is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  

Wendy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Hilda Grohn, paternal grandparents, Helen (Vern) Janisewski and Clifford (JoAnn) Mitchell, and niece Abbilyn Mitchell.  

A special thank you to Gidget, Aunt Cindy, and long- time friend Elise for the love and care they provided to Wendy. The family would also like to thank all the Pro Health Hospice team caregivers, especially nurse Pamela.

A celebration of Wendy’s life will be held on January 1st, 2025, at Integrity Celebration Center, (2789 Browns Lake Dr. Burlington, WI 53105).  An open house celebration will begin at 1pm until time of service at 2:50 pm.
