Robert "Buck" A. McKillop Obituary
Robert “Buck” Alois McKillop was born unto eternal life on May 11th, 2026. He was born on June 20th, 1932, to parents John A McKillop and Mary L McKillop in Milwaukee, WI. Buck spent most of his 93 years in West Allis, where his family settled down. In his early years, Buck enjoyed helping his parents with their vegetable gardens and sharing their overabundance with friends and neighbors, and causing lots of chaos with his “buddies.”
At 18, Buck packed his bags and headed off to bravely serve in Korea from 1952-1954, where he was a pole lineman and was awarded a Korean Service Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, a United Nations Service Medal, and a Merit Unit Citation.
He was a beloved father, and is survived by his five children - Rob (Paula) McKillop, Lisa Terkel, Tara D’Amico, Stacey (John) Sibilski, and Kris McKillop (Dawn). He was a fun and loving Grandpa/Papa to grandchildren, Gabrielle (Erik), Jessica, Paul (Irina), Bryton (Katie), Emily, Breanna (Beto), Abigail, Michael, Devon, Charlie, Joelle, Lauren, and Gracie. “Great Papa” to Kenadee Eggleston and Erik (EJ) Eggleston, and “Uncle Buck” to many nieces and nephews that he loved as his own. Many great nieces and nephews, and an infinite number of friends, will miss him greatly.
Buck had a work ethic to be proud of and worked very hard at sometimes numerous jobs at a time, including construction, roofing and siding, and as a crane operator at Hotpoint (GE) for 20+ years, to name a few. After retirement, Buck continued to do roofing and siding work for friends and family and bartended at his brother-in-law’s bar in West Allis, where Buck earned himself quite the reputation for being a wonderful bartender and a great friend to all.
Buck is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joseph (Rose) McKillop, his sister Marie (Mike) Stenzel, his sister Shirley (Dick) Stanger, and his beloved niece Sharon “Shari” Gauger. Buck was a very devout Catholic; he prayed on his knees nightly for all the folks he loved or cared about… and that’s a lot of people! He would partake in communion weekly and pray the rosary often. He was very proud of his Great Aunt, St. Mary Mackillop, the Patron Saint of Australia, Archdiocese of Brisbane, and the Knights of the Southern Cross.
Buck left this earth being loved deeply by everyone who knew him… family and too many friends to count will forever miss his presence, his ability to bring a smile to your face, warmth to your heart, and joy to your life.
The family requests that any memorial donations in Buck's honor should made out to Make A Wish of Wisconsin, and The Goodman Community Center of Madison.
A celebration of Buck's life will be held on Saturday, June 13th, 2026, at Integrity Celebration Center, (2789 Browns Lake Dr., Burlington, WI 53105). Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until a memorial service with military honors to follow at 5:30 pm.
