Robert G. Wren

Robert (Bob) Wren, 79, of Burlington, passed away on July 1st, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center in Burlington, WI.

Bob graduated high school in Ft. Myers, and in his late twenties, returned to Wis. where he was born, to continue work with the NHRA as events director and track manager at Great Lakes Dragaway. He worked as head mechanic and service dept. manager at Allen Buick in Racine then became a trencher product manager at Case Corp., where his career blossomed. It was in Union Grove where Bob met and married the love of his life, Janet, in 1976.

Bob traveled extensively as a trainer and salesperson, giving him the opportunity to make many lifelong friends across the U.S. and throughout the world. He was often called “Trencher Bob” by his colleagues and was proud to achieve many accomplishments during his career. In retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling with Janet and writing poetry for his friends and family.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; siblings, John, Jean and Judy; mother June, and father John. He is survived by his stepchildren Linda (Dave) Turner, Karen (Rick) Shumann, Ellen (Rado) Simic, and Christine (Paul) Schultz. Together with Janet, Bob was grandfather to Jeremy, Jennifer, Justin, Zac, Jay and Mike; Jessica, Jacob and Jordan; Alisha, Emma, Neil and Laura; Nicole, Hannah, Jessica and Kyle; and a great-grandfather to 23.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, July 26th, 2024, at Plymouth Congregational UCC, (124 W. Washington St., Burlington, WI). with  a visitation from 2 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. followed by a service from 4 to 5 p.m.

Memorials can be made in Bob’s honor to Plymouth Congregational UCC. The family extends gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Aurora Medical Center in Burlington, the Aurora at Home organization, and staff at Pine Brook Pointe assisted living facility.
