With heavy hearts, we announce that Richard Forrest Braatz (“Dicky”), 77, of Burlington, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of many and in the arms of his devoted bride of over 20 years.
Dicky was born on May 20, 1948. He graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac, Class of 1966. Shortly after graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force (E-4) from July 1966 to January 1970, including serving in Vietnam. Family & Legacy Dicky was a devoted husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was the true love of Jacque’s life and fought courageously, showing strength and determination until the very end. He will be remembered for his big smile, stubborn strength, sense of humor, and even bigger heart. Whether he was fixing things, teasing friends, or cheering from the sidelines, Dicky always showed up for those who needed him — and even for those who simply wanted his company.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jacquelyn Braatz; his stepchildren, Tammy (Mike) Szewcynski, Kristy (Eric) Pulk, and Kevin (Jennifer) Brau Jr.; and his five beloved grandchildren, Alli, Brock, Kevin III, Maren, and Larah. He is also survived by his siblings, Joann (Larry) Kauth, Jill (Richard) Ruenger, and Jack (Jan) Braatz, along with many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Wilsie, and his father, Forrest Braatz.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Rochester Cemetery in Rochester, 31440 Washington Avenue, on Saturday, February 14th at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance. Following the graveside service, all are welcome to celebrate Dicky’s life with family and friends at Integrity Celebration Center, 2789 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. In true Dicky style, guests are encouraged to come casual — jeans, boots, Harley or motorcycle gear, Air Force or patriotic attire, or whatever feels most comfortable — just as he would have wanted.
