Richard “Dick” Rehberg, age 96, of Waterford passed away peacefully on October 2nd, 2022. Dick was born on July 18th, 1926, to George and Nellie Rehberg in Burlington, WI. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1944. He married Betty Maas on January 6th, 1951. They lived on the family farm at English Settlement until 1996, when they moved to Burlington. Dick and Betty moved to Waterford Senior Living in 2018. Dick was a dairy farmer, on the farm that has been in his family for almost 180 years. He was an active community member, serving as a 4-H Dairy Leader and singing in the church choir. Dick was the clerk of the Town of Rochester and then the chairman of the Town Board. He served on the Racine County Board of Supervisors from 1984 to 2002. He also worked with the UW Extension, and he volunteered for the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary as an escort and in the gift shop with Betty. He continued his family legacy by serving on the Eagle Creek Cemetery Board for over 20 years. In their retirement, Dick and Betty enjoyed spending time and making memories with family and friends at their Dutch Hollow Lake home.
Dick will be missed by his children Marilynn Sheahan, James (Ruthann) Rehberg, Jeanmarie (Jeffrey) Iverson, Steven (Sue) Rehberg, and Rick (Tammy) Rehberg; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-laws Elaine Rehberg and Dorothy Bauman.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 70 years, Betty; parents; sister Mary (Art) Rummel; brothers Don (Vic) Rehberg and Jack Rehberg; brothers-in-law Fred (Bebe) Maas, Wally (Kay) Maas, and Charles Bauman; son-in-law Gene Sheahan; and grandsons Gene Sheahan, Brian Sheahan, and Blake Iverson.
A celebration of Dick’s life will take place on Monday, October 10th, 2022, at Integrity Celebration Center, (2789 Browns Lake Dr. Burlington, WI 53105). Visitation will begin at 2:30 pm, followed by a 4 pm memorial service. Burial to follow at Eagle Creek Cemetery at English Settlement.
