Michael "Mic" G. Werth

Michael George "Mic" Werth, 84, died at Scandia Health Center in Sister Bay, Wisconsin on Thursday December 1st, 2022.

Mic was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 14th, 1938, to Jane Wordell and Tony Werth. He grew up in Milwaukee and moved to California in his early 20s and stayed with family there.

Michael was a chef by trade, something he became fascinated with while cooking with his grandma Werth in their family home.  He told stories of some of the recipes he still used that grandma shared with him.  He learned so much in her loving home.  Mike honed his skills further while in the air force.  He worked his way up from a general cook to the head chef for the officers.  He loved what he did.  He shared his expertise many times in the homes of friends and family. He was always most at home preparing food for others.

He resided in Door County for the past 45 years and worked as a chef at a number of establishments during that time.  When he retired, he moved to Senior Housing on Washington Island, where he continued to share his craft with the residents every Sunday. 

Mic is survived by his loving brother Mark (Dawn) Werth, his stepmother Marcia, his siblings Tony (Bunnie) Werth, Linda (Tom) Werth-Meyer, Tom (Sara) Werth and Laura (Don) Spargur as well as his loving niece Melissa (Nate Kaminski) and nephew Zak (Krystal) Werth along with other nieces and nephews, family, and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his baby sister Toni Ann, his mother, Jane Wordell and his father Tony Werth.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Scandia for their care and expertise, especially Patti, Roberta, Joy, Julie Drew, and Dr. Johnson as well as the entire nursing staff and nursing assistants, kitchen staff, and housekeeping staff. 

A service for Michael will be held on Sunday December 11th, 2022, at Integrity Celebration Center, (2789 Browns Lake Dr. Burlington, WI 53105), from 12 PM until time of service at 12:50 PM with Father Ken Omernik officiating.
