Mary M. (Ennis) Murphy

Mary Margaret (nee: Ennis) Murphy, 81, of Burlington, WI, formerly of Wind Lake and Milwaukee, WI, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, surrounded by her supportive caretakers at Pine Brook Pointe Assisted Living.

Mary was born on January 26, 1944, in Newberry, MI, the daughter of the late Spencer Michael and Margaret Byrne Ennis.  Mary was a graduate of Newberry High School and became a licensed lab technician in Minneapolis, MN.  She then moved to Milwaukee, WI, where she met Joseph C. Murphy. They were then married on November 22, 1969, in Newberry, MI.

Growing up in Newberry, Mary loved her high school friends and her horse, Sandy. She was known to be quite a prankster (Who stole clothes lines, tied them together, and rang the school bell??), and lived on Round Lake in the summer.  She loved swimming, boating, fishing, popping the weeds, and playing in the woods.  In winter, she loved snowmobiling and celebrating holidays with family and friends.

Mary is survived by her loving son, Daniel M. Murphy, of Burlington, WI;  a sibling, Patty (Patrick) Ennis Rahilly of Brighton, MI; Nieces: Colleen (Kelly) Ennis, Caitie (Greg) Johnson, Michelle Doyle, and Jeanne Doyle. Nephews:  Dave Doyle (Mar Victoria); Michael Ennis McMillan (Saul Bachmiller-Smith), Patrick Ennis, Brendan Rahilly, and ex-brother-in-law, Moran (Shirley) Doyle

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Murphy, who passed in 2018; siblings Kathleen (nee: Ennis) Doyle,  Michael B. Ennis, Sister- in- Law Bunny Ennis, and nephews  James Ennis and Shawn Doyle.

An open house memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, at Integrity Celebration Center, 2789 Browns Lake Dr., Burlington, WI 53105, from 1 pm until the time of service at 2:30 pm.

Mary will be laid to rest at Wisconsin's Veteran Memorial Cemetery next to her husband on Monday, September 15th, 2025, in Union Grove, WI.
