Mark W. Tamblyn Obituary

Mark W. Tamblyn, age 59, of Rochester, Wisconsin, crossed over to eternal life peacefully at West Allis Memorial Hospital on May 7th, 2026.

Mark was born on September 27, 1966, in Milwaukee, WI. He was joyfully adopted by Joanne (née: Heine) and Lynn Tamblyn. Mark married his high school sweetheart, Laurie (née: Wambach), on October 14, 1989, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Waterford. They lived in West Allis, WI, where they started their family. Then they moved to Rochester in 1995, where they raised 3 children. The Village of Rochester was fortunate to have Mark’s dedication and service for 23 years. He first served on the Board of Trustees and spent the majority of his years contributing thoughtfully and faithfully on the Plan Commission.

Mark was a trained butcher and spent most of his career as a retail meat cutter/ meat manager. One of his true passions was using his proclivity for art and creativity to create countless varieties of sausage recipes and specialty products. This, along with his outstanding customer service, gave way to a community of people who consumed and enjoyed his products no matter where he was working. He did not take the nicknames of “Meat Man” or “The Meat Master” lightly, and as we all know, “You Can’t Beat Mark’s Meat”.

Mark participated in numerous sports throughout high school and into college, consisting of football, baseball, basketball, and track. He shared his love of sports with his children, supporting them and their friends by practicing and attending sporting events whenever possible. Inevitably, he became and found great joy in being a coach, primarily in softball. This led to a communion between his profession and sport, where his meat was expected at every event.

One of Mark’s other core enjoyments was history, revolving primarily around the United States Colonial and Civil War Eras. He thoroughly enjoyed visiting museums and battlefields around the states whenever in the area on vacation. His expertise on this time in history, along with his already stated creative and artistic nature, gave way to a hobby of miniature painting. Words cannot describe the amount of time, effort, and attention to detail given to the hobby, from the incredible ability to paint, to designing almost life-like terrain and landscapes. He used what he made in wargaming nights at local games stores and recreated 1 to 1 reenactments of actual historical events.

Mark’s top priority was family and homebuilding. Providing for his family was above all else, prioritizing them above himself in most cases. He loved cooking and gardening, while going to great lengths to personalize his abode through painting and wood craftsmanship.

Mark is survived by his wife of 36 years, Laurie, his children: Zachary, Jessica, and Nicole; his grandchildren: Liliana, Bryson and Delanie; brothers: Jeff (Mary) and Mike (Mandy); sister-in-laws: Terrie (Jay), Sue (Ken), Jean; brother-in-laws: Bob (Robin), Mike, Joe (Michele), and numerous other Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, Aunts and Uncle-in-laws, and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brother-in-law: John Wambach.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Sunday, May 17th, 2026, at Rochester Village Hall, (300 W. Spring Street, Rochester, WI), from 2pm until 5pm.

The family welcomes memorial donations, which will be distributed in Mark’s honor at a later time.
