Mark Galaszewski Obituary

Mark Anthony Galaszewski passed away on January 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, strength, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.

Born on October 2, 1950, Mark lived a life defined by honor and commitment. He was a devoted husband of 54 years to his loving wife, Diana (Sindberg) Galaszewski. He was a proud and loving father to his two daughters, Jennifer Galaszewski and Stacy (Galaszewski) Tangeman, and a cherished Papa to his beloved granddaughter, Taylor (Galaszewski) Baur, who brought him immense joy. He was overjoyed to welcome into the family his son-in-law, Shawn Tangeman, and his grandson-in-law, Kurt Baur.

He is also survived by his brothers, Joe (Sharon) Galaszewski and Chip (Dianne) Gallagher; sister-in-law, Nancy Galaszewski; brother-in-law, Michael (Anne) Sindberg; sisters-in-law, Jan Sindberg and Carol Fellenz; as well as nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many special friends.

Mark honorably served his country as a Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and as a Military Police Officer with the Air National Guard, exemplifying discipline, courage, and loyalty. In addition to his military career, he continued his lifelong commitment to serving others as a Sergeant with the Milwaukee Police Department, where he was respected for his 34 years of service, leadership, integrity, and dedication to protecting the community.

Upon retirement, Mark enjoyed part-time employment with Direct Supply and Rivermoor Golf Club. He was also a Freemason and active in the American Legion.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, John and Regina Galaszewski; his brother, Michael Galaszewski; his mother- and father-in-law, Charles and Janice Sindberg; and his brothers-in-law, Jim Sindberg, John Sindberg, and Norm Fellenz.

Mark’s strength, compassion, and sense of duty left a lasting impact on all who knew him. His legacy of service, love, and devotion will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. His smile will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church (305 S. 1st St., Waterford, WI), from 8:30 until 10:40 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m.  Military honors and a committal service will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery (21731 Spring St., Union Grove, WI).
