Mark Erickson Obituary

Mark Erickson, 49, of the Burlington, Wisconsin area passed away unexpectedly on January 3rd, 2022, at St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Mark was born on October 17, 1972, to Vonnie (Polanski) and the late LaVern Erickson at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.  Mark was a member of the graduating class of 1991 from Chippewa Falls High School. Mark met Dana Olson on December 26th, 2006 and they were united in marriage on a white sandy beach in Negril, Jamaica on February 26th, 2011. He became a plumber in 1993 and went to work for Karlsen Plumbing where both his brothers were also plumbers. He went to work for his brother Len at Erickson Plumbing when Len branched out on his own. In 2012, started work at Alpine Plumbing and Heating and in 2018, joined the CornerStone One family as a plumbing foreman; left the field to become a PreFab Manager and most recently, Director of Manufacturing. He was a member of the Executive Agenda in Brookfield, WI.

Mark was a very loving, kind and silly husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, friend and mentor. Mark’s presence was larger than life! His smile and laughter would fill a room and he always had a story to tell. His sense of humor was sarcastic, but he had the biggest heart. When Mark set his mind to something, he did it. He was an Ironman – completing three full Ironman competitions, several half Ironmans, marathons and many other races/triathlons. His mantra was “Live and Let Live”. And, he did. He was an extremely hard worker – in his professional life and all other aspects of his life, also. He would drop everything to help a friend or family member. He was proud to be a lifelong learner – always reading something, a book, news article, or Googling to learn more and was one to never accept the current version of himself. “Once you realize you don’t have it all figured out, start learning again. Keep repeating this till you take your last breath. That is what I have chosen to do.”

Mark is survived by his wife of almost 11 years, Dana.  Three children survive Mark: Mykel Erickson, Abigail Erickson, and Brittan Crumbliss.  Mark is survived by his mother: Vonnie and step-father, Charles Bathke and three siblings: Lennie (Christine) Erickson, Tess (Jeff) Miller, and Mike (Chantelle) Erickson; one grandchild: Grayson Crumbliss and eight nieces and nephews.  Mark was proceeded in death by his grandparents, his father, LaVern in 2016 and one brother Luke Bathke in 2005.

Mark leaves a tremendous void in the community, his family, circle of friends and work family. There are a million little things about Mark that will forever remain in everyone’s hearts.

Private family services will be held at a later date at Derrick Funeral Home.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Saturday January 15th, 2022, from 2 till 5pm at Integrity Celebrations Center.
