Leslie Theodore Touve “Swede”, of Burlington (formerly of Franklin), passed away on March 5th, 2022, at the age of 93 years.
Les was born on May 26th,1928 in Port Wing, WI to the late Bror and Svanhilde (Nee Eckenberg) Touve. Les worked at Bucyrus-Erie as a machinist for 38 1/2 years. After retirement Les and Jan enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Port Wing, WI and never missed their chance to attend the fish boils on Labor Day Weekend. They were also very active members of the Trinity Lutheran Church in South Milwaukee.
Les and Jan loved traveling all over. Especially going to Sweden and Norway three times to visit relatives. He loved to hunt, especially at Camp Savage, volunteered at Old World Wisconsin, and was a dedicated Boy’s Scout Troop leader. He was very proud of his Swedish- American roots. To celebrate his culture he was a member of Linde Lodge #492, Swedish VASA Order of America for 50 years, as well as Sons of Norway, Swedish-American Historical Society of Wisconsin, Linde Swedish Dancers, and the Chairman of the Swedish food booth at the Folk Fair.
Les is survived by his children Raymond (Karen) and Ronald (Patty). Proud Grandpa of Brian Touve, Scott (Jessica) Touve, and Kristin Repischak. Great-grandfather of Logan, Ethan, Evan and Kaitlin, Grace, and Scarlet. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Les is preceded in death by his beloved wife the late Janice (Nee Peterson) and their Son Russell. He is further preceded in death by his brothers and sisters; Arvid, Arnold, Florence, Agnes, Evelyn, Norman, Dorothy, Dolly, Bill, Connie, and Johnny.
A memorial gathering to honor Les’s life will be held on March 18th, 2022 at Norway Lutheran Church (6321 Heg Park Rd, Wind Lake, WI 53185) starting at 4pm until time of service at 4:45pm. Leslie will be laid to rest on August 4th, 2022 at Port Wing Cemetery next to his beloved wife, Janice.
The family suggest memorials be donated to the Port Wing Historical Society.
