Laura Hanson Obituary

Laura Hanson found peace on February 6, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. While her life was cut far too short, Laura should be remembered and celebrated for the amazing human being she was and for her beautiful legacy that lives on in her daughter and grandson.

Help is defined as making it easier for someone to do something by offering one’s services or resources. Help is also defined as Laura. She committed so much of her life to helping others – not only in her jobs at Lakeview Specialty Hospital and Rehab, Homes for Independent Living, Kenosha County Corrections, Careers Industries and Napolis, but also as a volunteer EMT with the Wind Lake Fire Department. She worked tirelessly to ensure those around her were happy, cared for and had everything they needed, even if it meant she went without.

Laura attended South Milwaukee schools before settling in Burlington where she worked multiple jobs to support herself and her daughter. Laura was a hard-working and dedicated employee, but her greatest accomplishment in life was being a mom to Kaylee and a grandma to Hunter.

Laura lived her life to the fullest. She worked hard and played hard - she loved to camp and fish as well as go to the racetrack, play bingo, bowl, shoot pool and listen to music – Tesla was her absolute favorite group! If you’re looking for a great meal, Laura recommends a Ponza Rotta from Jimmy’s Grotto in Waukesha.

Laura was happiest hanging out with her daughter who was also her best friend. There were many trips to the nail salon and just great times spent together with the girls. Laura LOVED kids – you could always count on her to host a birthday party, babysit, go swimming... The smiles she brought to others were endless.

Laura is dearly missed and survived by her daughter, Kaylee (Nathan Richardson), grandson, Hunter, Laura is further survived by her parents, Karen and Terry Nimz, sister, Michelle Nimz, niece Addison, nephew Octavio, grandmother, Nancy Krznarich, cousins Sarah (Andrew) Victor and David Krznarich. As well as many other relatives, amazing friends and co-workers.

Laura was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roland and Lillie Mae Nimz.

Laura’s life will be celebrated on Sunday, February 26 from 2pm, until Prayer service at 5:15 PM at Integrity Celebrations Center, 2789 Browns Lake Dr, Burlington, WI, 53105.
