James John Verega, 79, of Burlington, WI, died February 10th, 2025, at his residence. He was born on September 29th, 1945, in Chicago, IL, to John and Julia (Leknick) Verega.
He married Peggy Dodge on April 20th, 1964, in Shawneetown, IL. After living in Cicero, IL, they moved to Burlington, WI, in 1979, when he took a job at Precise Corporation in Racine. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1983, after attending evening college for 14 years.
You could find him on the golf course, fishing, or doing home improvement projects when not working. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
Survivors include his wife Peggy, and his four children – Christine Johnson of Burlington, Jean Schuerman of Broomfield, Colorado, Dawn (Rob) of Burlington, and John (Chris) Verega of Burlington. He is also survived by ten grandchildren – Karly, Jared, Kolin, Todd, Stephanie, Kenny, Austin, Ethan, Gavin, and Ellie. He also had ten great-grandchildren!
A memorial gathering to honor James’s life will be held on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, at Integrity Celebration Center, (2789 Browns Lake Dr. Burlington, WI 53105), from 2 pm until the time of service at 3:50 pm. A time of fellowship will follow.
