Howard Harold “Fox” Murrah, 72, of Burlington, WI, passed away on February 21st, 2025, at Aurora Memorial Hospital.
Howard was born March 14, 1952, to Howard Eugene and Felicia Hazel (nee: Recknagel) Murrah, in Burlington, WI. He was a lifelong resident, graduating from Burlington High School in 1971. He later achieved a two-year marketing degree at Gateway Technical College. He was a member of Cross Lutheran Church.
Howard spent most of his life as a business owner or in retail and he was retired in the past decade. Howard was the most generous man you may ever meet and had friends everywhere. He had an incredible memory for people and was extremely sociable. He always had a smile and would talk to everyone he met. He would remember that person years later if he ran into them again. Howie’s “family” was his classmates and friends everywhere. He served on every class reunion committee and kept track of where everyone lived, and those who died. It was not uncommon to get a phone call from him out of the blue because he was just thinking of you. He was kind and compassionate.
Howard is survived by step-brothers and sisters, cousins David Bybee, Beverly Bybee, Esther King, and other distant relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother William Lewis Murrah, and his step-mother Frances Clara (Acker) Boelter Murrah.
Services for Howard will be held at Cross Lutheran Church, (126 Chapel Terrace, Burlington) on Monday, March 3rd, 2025. Visitation will be held from 12:30pm until time of service at 2:20pm. Immediately following the service Howard will be laid to rest at Burlington Cemetery, (701 Browns Lake Dr., Burlington).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to help cover final expenses would be appreciated.
