Harold F. Schoenberg, 93, of Burlington, died at home May 2, 2022.
Harold was born in the town of Spring Prairie on October 11, 1928, the son of Henry and Lauretta (nee Roanhouse) Schoenberg. He spent his early life in Spring Prairie, and attended school in Lyons and Springfield. On September 7, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mary Meyers at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Brighton, and the two raised their family and operated a dairy farm in Spring Prairie for nearly 40 years until retiring and moving to Burlington in 1993.
Harold’s struggles in life were outweighed by his joys – his greatest joy being his family. He enjoyed polka dancing and visiting with family and friends. He loved sharing stories of his younger days with his grandchildren (his favorite topics being horses, farming and tractors), and was known to engage in playful shenanigans with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Harold is survived by Mary, his wife of 64 years; his children: Dan (Connie) Schoenberg, Louann (Ed Litwitz) Schoenberg, Ed (Jill) Schoenberg, Al (Paula) Schoenberg, Jeanine (Don) Cowan, Lynne (Mike) McCluskey, and Joe (Shannon) Schoenberg; his grandchildren: Jessica (Brad) Soots, Lea (Dale) Kowalewski, Josh (Samantha) Schoenberg, Nick Litwitz, Lauren McCluskey, Alyssa Cowan, Austin Schoenberg, Shawn McCluskey, Brooke Schoenberg, Spencer Schoenberg, Zach Cowan, Sam Schoenberg and Camille Schoenberg; his great-grandchildren: Charlie, Sawyer and Liam, Emerson and Iris, and Nolan; his step-granddaughters: Katie (Chase) Scott and Valerie (Alex) Belfor, and their children, Liam and Riley, William and Andrew; sisters-in-law Lucille Ambrose, Dorothea Ehlen, Gerry Ehlen, Kathy Howe, Joan Nield, Judy Meyers and Jean Leffelman; and brothers-in-law Jack Meyers, Ray Meyers and Ken (Kathy) Meyers.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his sister Virginia “Toots” Held and her husband LeRoy; his brother LaVerne “Bud” Schoenberg and his wife, Florence; his parents-in-law, John and Magdelene Meyers; brothers-in-law Robert Meyers, Clarence Meyers, Don Meyers, Gilbert Ambrose, Eugene Ehlen, Bob Ehlen, Bob Howe, Tom Nield and Chuck Leffelman; and sisters-in-law, Margie Meyers, Nancy Meyers and Dorothy Meyers.
A celebration of Harold’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022, at Integrity Celebration Center, (2789 Browns Lake Dr., Burlington, WI 53105). Visitation will be 10:30 AM until time of service 11:50. A time of fellowship will follow. Harold will then be laid to rest at St. Charles Cemetery in Burlington, Wisconsin at 2:30 PM.
