Charles Jansky Obituary

Charles Allen Jansky, age 75, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, after a long battle withcancer. He was born in Sparta, Wisconsin on August 3, 1950. As a young man, Charles joined the Navy and faithfully served his country while seeing action in the Vietnam War. He returned home and spent many years traveling and working as a laborer in various roles. His oft-told, favorite stories were about working on shrimp boats and doing excavation work while living in Florida. Locally, he was employed by Lavelle Industries and Hank Soetenga.

During childhood, his mother Vera, sisters Norma (Miller) and Patricia (Barrios), and Charles attended Bethel Baptist in Burlington. As children, Chuck and Norma sang duets in church with Norma singing soprano and Chuck singing alto. (Norma said Chuck had the better voice!) Charles always loved to go fishing and play baseball—two activities he did constantly. While living in Twin Lakes, Chuck played the cornet in the Wilmot High School band.

As a young adult, Charles drifted away from his faith. The struggles he faced after serving in Vietnam drove him to seek a renewed relationship with the Lord. That search led him to Pine Forest
Pentecostal Church in Pensacola FL where he met and became dear friends with Pastor Hazel Godwin and Harvey Godwin. Charles fondly spoke of his dear church family in Pensacola and was so grateful for their love, concern, and prayers.

After returning to Wisconsin, Charles attended Rock of Jesus Church in Elkhorn until 2014 when the congregation moved to Delavan. Soon after, Charles discovered a new church ministry beginning in his hometown: Burlington Apostolic Church. His faith brought Charles to an exciting and special day in 2018 when he was baptized in Jesus’ name in the Hampton Inn swimming pool.
He had the distinct privilege of being one of the first and longest attending congregants outside of Pastor Durnford’s family. Charles has worshiped with his friends at all four church locations: Pastor Durnford’s living room, the Hampton Inn Community Room in downtown Burlington, Integrity Celebration Center, and the current location at 925 Milwaukee Ave. The announcement that
Burlington Apostolic was moving to its own space on Milwaukee Avenue filled his face with a happy smile.

During retirement, Charles loved to tinker with mechanical things. It was quite a thrill for him to grow huge tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers in his small garden—produce he was constantly giving away to family, friends, and neighbors. Charles was a proud Navy veteran who constantly wore one of his many Vietnam Service caps. Two of his cherished memorable experiences were the 2018 Stars & Stripes Honor Flight and the 2025 VetsRoll trip to Washington DC.
He constantly spoke about and prayed for his close friends. Michelle and Donovan, Bobby, Terry, and Tom were names he often mentioned. Family and friends recall how much he loved to give and make people happy. His church family will always remember the Wintergreen mints Charles distributed prior to every service and his parting comment each Sunday, “You all have a good week!”

Charles is survived by his sisters Norma Miller and Patricia Barrios, nephews Todd (Lisa) Tipton, Christopher Tipton, Scott (Alyssa) Miller, and niece Sara (Ben) Cook as well as many great nieces
and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father George Jansky, mother Vera (Vorce) Felde, stepfather Allan Felde, brother-in-law James Miller, and nephew, Layne Tipton, Jr.

We are grateful for the care and concern Charles received over the years from the Stars & Stripes organization, VetsRoll organization and volunteers, the medical staff at the VA and Delevan Health Services, his church family at Burlington Apostolic, and the team at Integrity Funeral Services.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 7th at Integrity Celebrations Center. An open house visitation begins at noon followed by a service officiated by Pastor Steve Durnford at 12:30 p.m. Charles will receive a military honors burial at 2 p.m. in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring Street, Union Grove.

Per Charles’ request, friends and family are invited to his favorite “church fellowship chicken dinner” served at 4 p.m. immediately after the burial ceremony at Burlington Apostolic Church, 925
Milwaukee Ave, Burlington WI.
