Calvin A. Davies

Calvin Arthur Davies, 83, of Lake Tichigan, passed away on October 13, 2023. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. 
Calvin, affectionately known as Cal, was born to the late William and Jessie (Nee: Miller) on August 31, 1940, in Portage, Wisconsin. He was a skilled craftsman, an enthusiastic outdoorsman, and proudly served his country. After graduating from Portage High School in 1958, he served in the United States Navy, proudly achieving the rank of E5 in 2 years/8 months while serving aboard the USS Saratoga and USS Shangri-La from January 1959 to December 1962. He was also part of the US Navy Grim Reapers V-105.
On June 17, 1977, Cal married Sharon (Nee: Schmidt) at sunset on the serene Lake Tichigan. Together, they lovingly raised three children from Sharon's previous marriage.
In 1997, after twenty-nine years of dedicated service, Cal retired from Bultman Trucking, where he hauled short-to-mid range trucking routes throughout the Midwest. The couple then made their home in Iron River, Wisconsin, enjoying snowmobiling, the tranquil outdoors, and each other's company. During this time, Cal became the caretaker of the Bayfield County Fairgrounds. Afterward, they spent some time in Mesa, Arizona, before returning to Muskego, Wisconsin in 2020.
Cal is survived by his wife, children, Whitney (Ron) Gulbrandson, Misti Wirth, and Blake (Kari) Wirth; grandchildren, Austin, Allison, Jon, Kristin, Karleigh, Chavis, Weston, Tiera, Julia and Jason, and great grandchildren Brianna, Jaxon, Raiden, Rynnleigh, and Kainan.
The family wants to thank Dr. Margaret Holmes at the Milwaukee VA for her care and compassion.
Cal leaves behind a legacy of dedication, service, and a deep love for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Military Honors and Committal service will be Thursday, Nov. 16 at 1PM at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery (21731 Spring St, Union Grove, WI 53182), if you are planning to attend, please have your vehicle in line between 12:45-12:55 PM.
In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, memorials in Cal's name to the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center are appreciated, (5000 W. National Avenue, Milwaukee, WI, 53295).
