Barbara Veronica Broz (Krause), 85, of Lake Geneva, formerly of Round Lake, IL and Gurnee, IL, passed away June 30, 2025, at Pine Brook Pointe in Burlington, WI with her husband of 68 years at her side.
Born on April 25, 1940, daughter of George and Angeline Krause (Mess), married on May 4, 1957, to the love of her life, Anthony Norman Broz in Chicago, IL. She was born and raised in Chicago where she lived until she moved to Round Lake, IL in 1963.
Barb ran her own housecleaning business and later worked for J&L Oil in Vernon Hills, IL. Her happiest moments were spent hosting parties at home where she always made enough food for all to enjoy, and plenty to bring home for the next day. Barb never met a stranger and was known for cupping your face as she gave her family and friends hugs and kisses. She loved the ‘You Are My Sunshine' song, but in reality, she was our sunshine. Her eyes shined brighter whenever she was near a loved one (especially her grand and great-grandchildren) and her love for family and friends knew no bounds.
She is survived by her husband Anthony, sons David (Diane) Broz and Douglas (Alexandra) Broz, grandchildren Michael (Justina) Duffin, Dr. Nicole (Michael Gross) Broz, great-grandchildren Olivia and Tucker Duffin, brothers Greg (Nancy) Krause and George (Wanda) Krause, along with many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Barb is preceded in death by her mother, father, sister Marlene Sparkman (Krause), and son Daniel Alan Broz.
A special thanks to the staff at Pine Brook Pointe and Gentiva Hospice for the love and care that kept her comfortable during her final days.
A celebration of Barb’s life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 11:00 – 2:00 at Integrity Celebration Center, located at 2789 Browns Lake Dr., Burlington, WI 53105. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gentiva Foundation (a hospice provider) or the Lake Geneva Fire Department. Per Mom's wishes, attire will be casual.
