Raymond V Schaefer, 93, Burlington, WI (formerly of Chicago) died Thursday May 30, 2019 at Oakridge Care Center, Union Grove, WI.
He was born June 13, 1925 in Chicago, The son of Louis and Ann Culliton Schaefer and the twin brother of Donald J. Schaefer who predeceased him in 2008. He was also preceded in death by his brother Robert.
Ray served in the United States Coast Guard (Middle East and Asiatic/Pacific theatres) during World War II. After his service he employed his knowledge of mathmatics as an accountant for several organizations in the Chicago area.
Raymond is survived by his sister-in-law Dorothy (Donald J.) Schaefer of Delavan, WI, nephews James G. (Margaret) Schaefer of Burlington, WI and William (Mary Eileen) Schaefer of Schaumburg, IL and nieces Barbara Anderson of Buffalo Grove, IL; Roberta (Jay) Song of Glenview, IL and Lynn Schaefer of Stoughton, WI. Grandnephew Ryan, Andrew, Grandnieces Margo, Dawn, Carly, Kelly.
A life-long sports enthusiast Ray was an avid fan of baseball, football, basketball and golf. He enjoyed fishing and being “down by the lake” numerous times during his 40 year retirement.
Visitation Tuesday June 11th at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Burlington will precede Mass at 11:00am followed by family funeral at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago.
